Red light therapy (also known as a low-level light therapy or photobiomodulation) is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to help support the body function better. It is warm and relaxing - like gentle sunlight without the UV rays.
Light goes into your skin. Your cells then absorb the light, kind of like how plants use sunlight for energy. This boosts the energy in your cells - mainly in the mitochondria (known as the "powerhouses" of cells). With this energy, your cells are now able to repair themselves faster.

Your session is designed to be relaxing, gentle, and restorative from start to finish.
1. Consultation: The practitioner will review your health history and goals and discuss any areas of concern to ensure the session is tailored to your needs. At this time you will review and sign a consent form if you wish to proceed with the therapy.
2. Preparation: You will then be shown a short video on red light and how to use the device. A bed will be prepared in advance and can be adjusted to your needs. Depending on the area being treated, you may be asked to expose that part of your skin (for example, legs, back, or face). Protective eyewear will be provided for safety and comfort.
3. The Session: You will relax comfortably while soft red and near-infrared light shines on the targeted area for approximately 15 minutes. The light feels warm and soothing, but not hot or painful. At this time, you may nap.
4. After your session: There is no required down time - you can return to your day immediately. You may notice a light, energized feeling or gentle warmth in the area treated. Benefits will build with continued sessions over time.
